Why I Love My Job
By Adele Bebbington-Plant, Director and Head of Wills, Trusts & Estates
In this my fourth post, I want to share a brief insight in to why I love doing what I do:
The day-to-day job
First and foremost, I genuinely care about people. I want to help and make a difference to their lives. Wills, Trusts & Estates work for me was the perfect mix of legal drafting, accounts and technical law all combined with a focus on supporting clients and developing personal relationships with them.
The Clients
I have worked with some of my clients for years, developing strong relationships with them and have had the pleasure of acting for several generations of some families. When you choose to work with us we aim to be your advisers for life.
My Colleagues
I work with talented lawyers in my own and other departments, sharing ideas and expertise all with the aim of providing the most effective service possible. We are a supportive team all motivated by the desire to provide an excellent service for our clients.
Results focused
I regularly help clients with Inheritance Tax (IHT) planning, putting in place tax efficient Wills and systems of lifetime giving, working alongside our in-house Independent Financial Advisors (IFAs) to provide a complete solution with tax efficient investments.
It is always sad to lose a loved one, but an honour to see their plans through, their wishes respected and their intentions for their family come to fruition. Saving families significant amounts of money by reducing their IHT liability to zero or as close to zero as possible provides me with a huge sense of achievement.
Providing help and support when it is needed most
One of the most satisfying elements of my role is being able to help and support clients through some of the most emotionally challenging times in their lives, whether that be helping with a death bed Will or taking a first phone call after a loved one has passed away. To be able to reassure them, ease their worries and provide peace of mind is very rewarding.
Until next time.
Adele
