New Faces Welcome

25 November 2020

By Adele Bebbington-Plant, Director and Head of Wills, Trusts & Estates

As a business we never stand still, and this year it has been more important than ever for us to grow and strengthen our organisation for the future.

In spite of the pandemic and the challenges it has thrown up we have been delighted to welcome five new recruits this year:

In this my third post I am delighted to introduce them to you:

Becky Sowray joined us in February – just before the first Lockdown having previously taken a break from her law career to focus on her family. We were delighted to support Becky as she was re–admitted to the Solicitors Role in June enabling her to practice as a Solicitor once more in our Wills Trusts & Estates team.

In April, Sarah Cheers also joined our Wills, Trusts & Estates department and was the first person to receive her induction remotely (we are getting quite good at these now). Sarah, who holds a specialist Paralegal qualification in Wills & Estates, was also returning to her legal career when she joined us. You can read more about Sarah’s inspirational story here.

Jesca Knott joined our Family Law Team as a Paralegal in May. After graduating from the University of Manchester with a Law degree and subsequently gaining a Masters in Professional Practice and a Distinction in her Legal Practice Course (LPC). Jesca worked at a Manchester-based legal practice prior to joining us.

Lauren Chadwick joined our Residential Conveyancing team as a Legal Secretary in October. Lauren has worked within the legal sector for 18 months and is currently studying for a Masters in Law which she is due to complete in June 2021, after which she hopes to enrol on the LPC.

This week we have welcomed another new starter with Kara Nicholls also joining our growing Conveyancing team as a Paralegal. Kara has worked in Conveyancing for six years and is currently studying her CILEx (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives) qualifications which she hopes to complete in the spring of 2022.

Our people are our most valuable asset and we are always keen to hear from talented individuals who would like to pursue their career with us. We are currently recruiting for a Legal Cashier and in 2021 will be seeking a junior solicitor to join our Wills, Trusts & Estates team. Please keep an eye on the careers page of our website for updates.

In addition to our new recruits, several colleagues have been promoted into management roles; Brenda Spain became our new Head of Family Law prior to Christmas 2019. In April, Sarah Davies  and I were delighted to be appointed as Head of Residential Conveyancing and, Head of Wills, Trusts & Estates respectively. Furthermore, I was thrilled to be appointed as a Director of the practice in July.

I look forward to working alongside my fellow Director and MD Andrew Wright  to further develop our wonderful team going forward.!

Until next time.
Adele
