“But I can’t get a mortgage!”

By Philip H Yates, Consultant: Mortgages & Equity Release

I have heard this many times over the years and have lost count of the number of mortgages I have subsequently arranged after hearing it!

In most cases the client had been unable to arrange a mortgage for themselves, a problem which many can be faced with as the examples below illustrate:

The Self-Employed Business Owner…
I recall a business owner who had been turned down by his current high street mortgage lender, so he came to see me for advice. I was quickly able to source and arrange a new mortgage which had a lower interest rate and smaller fees than his existing lender could have offered, he was delighted. I have since arranged two subsequent mortgages for him.

The Doctor…
Another client who is a Doctor recently contacted me to say that although he had banked with his lender for over 30 years, had more than sufficient income and an impeccable credit history, they would not offer him a new mortgage. After a short consultation I had a new lender lined up for him and everything proceeded smoothly to completion.
